Hello — I’m Jo, founder of GloHome. Whether you're a longtime friend or new here, I’m so glad you’ve found us.
I created GloHome to provide a safe, luxurious, plant and nature powered alternative to conventional perfumes and chemical-laden home products. And also as a platform to encourage as many people as possible to improve their health by ditching artificial fragrances and switching to a natural alternative.
The GloHome promise - all products are 100% natural / plant derived. No artificial fragrance. Free from synthetic chemicals, toxins and phthalates.
My story
I developed M.E in 2014 after a virus and then MCAS in 2023 after chemical and mould exposure. Living with ME & MCAS means I developed intense chemical sensitivities and would become incredibly unwell around artificial fragrances and perfumes. Although my reactions were severe and intense- I realised that I was not a Unicorn! But instead a Canary in the Coalmine. Serving as a warning to others that artificial fragrances and perfumes were and are affecting everyone but they just weren't feeling it as intensely as I was.
I started crafting — small batches of scent for my home and for my body with pure botanicals, essential oils and zero hidden synthetics — products I could use and live with. If I couldn’t tolerate them, they weren't getting past the GloHome test....
I got so many compliments on these scents that I felt compelled to start making them for others. And so... here we are.
Our Mission
With GloHome and GloJo Health Education - I am on a mission to help people improve their health. And one of the most crucial ways to do this is cleaning up the home environment.
We were not meant to live (and certainly not thrive) surrounded by toxins and artificial chemicals.
Humans are hardwired for scent — but not synthetic scent. Our olfactory system evolved to recognise nature: the calm of lavender, the clarity of citrus, the grounding scent of earth after rain.
Our sense of smell was designed to connect us to what’s healing — not to chemicals that hijack our biology.
Scent was meant to restore us. To soothe, energise, protect, and balance.
Artificial fragrance has zero health benefit. Nature’s scent has endless ones.
The Hidden Poison in Your Home
Did you know that indoor air is now more polluted than outdoor air? I know. It's not wonder that chronic health conditions aer at their very peak. Every day, invisible chemicals from home products are doing damage.
Perfumes, plug-ins, room sprays, fabric softeners, candles, and those absurd little scent beads — they’ve all been engineered in labs to manipulate your senses and that “soothing” or “uplifting” smell you associate with comfort is a result of chemical engineering.
Behind the term“fragrance” there is a cocktail of undisclosed chemicals:
Endocrine disruptors that interfere with your hormones, thyroid, and reproductive system.
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that affect your lungs, liver, and brain.
Neurotoxins that quietly deplete your energy and affect focus, mood, and sleep.
These compounds can build up in your bloodstream, fat cells, overwhelm your detox pathways, and add to your body’s overall toxic load. Over time, they create inflammation, fatigue, headaches, anxiety, skin flare-ups, and that heavy, unwell feeling that is starting to become 'normal.
But it’s not normal. Your body is trying to tell you something.
